Another addition to `3rd Power Bangladesh 2010 International Expo’ is the `E-Power Bangladesh 2010’ focusing on Electric Power Equipment and Technology, being held concurrently with the main exhibition from October 14 ~ 16, 2010 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka – Bangladesh.

Bangladesh offers unique opportunities to suppliers of electro technical equipment and services. If the government are to meet their vision of a `Digital Bangladesh’ by 2021, millions of  people must be given access to electricity in the next 12 years, which will require massive investment in power generation, renewable energy and downstream electrical equipment.

The Bangladesh Government has prepared a plan for the next five years for development of the power sector, which would involve an amount of US$6 billion -- US$4.4 billion for generation, US$600 million for transmission and US$1billion for distribution.
The Government plans on installing rental power plants of 1,500MW, peaking plants of 800MW and coal-based power plants of 2,000MW.

The government  is also planning to set up 850mw peaking plants as a short-term option. The medium-term option is to set up four coal-fired power generation plants, each having 500mw generation capacity and would like to call upon local entrepreneurs and foreign investors to investment in the installation of high-cost, short-term rental power, peaking and coal-based power plants as the Power Generation is around 3,800MW against the demand for around 5,500MW–6,000MW.

Hence `E-Power Bangladesh 2010’ will provide a one stop B2B Platform for the major elements in the development of the country's electrical sector.
